:: MISSION STATEMENT
 
SKCAFI, Sining Kambayoka Cultural Arts Foundation, Inc is a non-profit PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATION for public and charitable purposes.This incorporated corporation was organized in Los Angeles, California, USA on September 19,2001 (Registration No. 2380562) recognizing the need of promoting the Ethnic Arts and Culture of the Philippines to a wider audience especially to Filipino-Americans, Filipinos and Americans who does not have the access to the arts and culture of the Minsupala Region of the Southern Philippines.
 
One of its goals is to promote cultural exchanges through Cultural Performances of Ethnic groups and Cultural Groups from the Philippines, Cultural Exhibits of Arts and Crafts, Seminar Workshops on Ethnic Dance and Music, festivals of Award Winning Philippine Movies and other Educational Programs related to the promotion of understanding, respect and cooperation among people of cultural backgrounds. This is to help bridge the cultural gap and increase understanding of the Filipino culture and its traditions by the Filipino immigrants and its descendants. It is envisioned to introduce Filipino Ethnic Arts and Culture to the youth and to establish a venue to explore and exploit their artistic talents and channel their energies to cultural projects.
 
 

Projects/Activities We Intend To Do

                      
 
a. Recruit and Train Filipino-Americans ( interested non-FilAms may join) whose selected core will comprise SKCAFI's Cultural Dance Troupe . Some who are inclined to Music will be in the All Pilipino Chorale , and those who have inclinations to Theatre will form the core of the SKCAFI's Theatre Ensemble .

b. SKCAFI & all its Cultural Groups
will be involved in all Filipino Organized Activities like Philippine Independence Celebrations, Folk Arts Festivals, and Holiday Activities either as performer/ facilitator or organizer. It may attend or be part of all Folk Art / Cultural Activities in the US.

c. Performance - Create a Stage Cultural Show for Public Consumption
for Free or for a Fee. It may be the group's repertoire for a traveling road show or as part of a command performance after a Seminar Workshop.

d. Conduct Cultural Research here and in the Philippine Island as part of our continuing search for our Roots and History.

e. Conduct Seminars and Workshops to schools and organizations as part of our goal to educate the public and to promote understanding among people in the community. We may create cultural groups in these schools and organizations as a product of the said workshops, as the need arises.

f. Organize Cultural Festivals and Forums in the community
with the help of interested organizations. It may include Art Exhibits, Filipino Film Showing, and Bazaar.

g. Invite Philippine Artists and Cultural Luminaries for a Lecture and Seminars to be held around the US.

h. Organize Cultural Groups in different states with significant FilAm population
as part of our goal to reach more people in our target population. Contact an organization / leader in each Filipino community to sponsor a Cultural Workshop which may lead into the creation of an independent cultural group that can function on its own with SKCAFI's training and organizational assistance

i. Help struggling Philippine Migrant Artists
who may find it hard to carve a niche in his/her adapted Country by giving them venues and forum of their art.

j. Help Preserve Philippine Culture
 
by assisting/funding Philippine Groups in preservation efforts of the different tribal and ethnic groups in the island.

k. Help in the economic upliftment of  Tribal groups in the Philippines in promoting their ethnic products and culture by way of exhibits, bazaar, and cultural exhibit.
