This project is a collaborative effort of the City of Los Angeles and SKCAFI in cooperation with the Philippine Local Governments, Philippine Consular Office, the Department of Philippine Tourism, Filipino Regional Associations, and various Foreign Consulars.
This is a product of SKCAFI's commitment to create a passion for the rich cultural arts of the Filipinos in the U.S. and abroad. It endeavors to import the bests of the ethnic tribal dances from the different regions in the Philippines such as the "Sinulog", "Ati-atihan", "Moriones", "Dinagyang", to name a few, and bring them right into the streets of the United States. The show will also exhibit the different indigenous arts and products of the Philippines in its desire to uplift the livelihood at the grass roots level.
"Tambayayong" is a Mindanao/Visayan term that literally means "communal cooperation" and popularly known in Luzon as the "Bayanihan". It is an innate community response to all who needs help without expecting anything in return or renumerations. SKCAFI believes that the spirit of this festival will establish a "peoples' UNITY" through its art, culture and tradition.
